About us

The Center for Economic Development Center (THE CENTER) is envisioned as a premier business and housing development organization which values service through its high diverse programs. The CENTER serves the diverse people of the Tampa and Hillsborough County, especially the working class and historically under-served and low-income populations. It will be framed by a substantial commitment to the growth and development of the local economy through a holistic approach. The CENTER will be collaborative, distinguished by partnerships with existing institutions both public and private.

MISSION

The Economic Development Center, Inc. (E.D.C.) will combat the deterioration of the community by assisting residents in developing and growing small businesses. In addition, decent housing affordable to low-income and moderate-income; training and workshops; creating an environment where companies will want to locate within the community, and community residents will have the resources needed to improve quality of life.

VISION

The E.D.C. using a diverse slate of programs will be distinctive in serving the various people of the region, especially the working class and historically under-served and low-income populations. Using a holistic approach to its commitment to the growth and development of the local economy through The E.D.C. will be collaborative, distinguished by partnerships with existing institutions, both public and private.

Meet our founder

Kella McCaskill, the president of The Center for Economic Development.
For over 25 years, Kella has enjoyed serving the Greater Tampa Bay area in the mortgage and residential and commercial real-estate industry. Kella currently serves as one of the real-estate professionals for The Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Kella, the former manager of the Executive Resolutions Group of one of the largest financial institutions in the U.S., is a sought-after consultant to attorneys, non-profit organizations seeking to find resolutions with various clients regarding the mortgage crisis.
McCaskill has provided technical assistance and consulting services to many small businesses in the following target markets:
Restaurants – Pharmacies – Medical facilities – Retail – LA fitness placements
Office – Industrial
